People Making History Our Stories...

Our Children Helping Others

Nicholas Gavos

Nicholas G has decided to purchase 10 children’s care packs so that 10 children suffering homelessness will have some gifts to open Christmas morning.

This story goes to the core of this charity and my mission statement which is teaching children the value of sharing with others and the importance of caring for those less fortunate.

What a beautiful boy Nicholas is and I’m sure his kindness will be admired by many Australians and serve as an example to thousands.

Barbering Students Out and About

Jacinta R

VU Polytechnic students have been providing $5 haircuts, shaves and grooming at Sunshine campus with all proceeds providing care packages for the Salvation Army Sunshine to distribute. Students have been enjoying the opportunity to further hone their skills while staff and students have made good use of the on-campus service.
The barbering van pictured here was at Sunshine Campus on August 14, 15, 22 and 29 and is sponsored by www.homeless.com.au. The barbering van is now back in Geelong where barbers and hairdressers volunteer 2-3 hours every six weeks providing haircuts to those in need.

PASSION FOR PEOPLE

In Early 2018 I was inspired by Local Hairdresser and Founder of the Resident Barber Josiah Monday along with World Renowned Canadian Born "Streets Barber" Nasir Sobhani and their work giving back to those in our communities often forgotten and neglected. Naz spends his weekends and spare time giving back by cutting the hair of homeless people literally on the streets and collaboratively the idea was born to establish the first mobile barber trailer in Australia that would service those in need in our community. The concept then became reality with our first mobile trailer being completed allowing Volunteer Barbers and hairdressers to donate their time in metro and regional areas to help those in need.

Richard Furnari – CEO and Founder

Our prototype trailer is fitted with 3 cutting chairs as well as a wash basin for that..

Help us Raise the roof!

We are raising $500,000 to build 25 Mobile Barber Vans. At homeless.com.au we are supported by many qualified Barbers and Hairdressers that have joined our cause to offer haircuts and beard trims to our friends in need.

Many barbers and hairdressers around Australia selflessly donate their time to helping others less fortunate in our communities.

Help us raise the roof by raising $500,000 to fund the construction and delivery of 25 Mobile Barber and Hairdressing Caravans that will be positioned strategically around Australia and managed by various charities and their volunteers. These vans will be fitted with 4 cutting chairs and provide hair cutting, beard trims and head health treatments for homeless, displaced and disadvantaged people around Australia.

Training and Apprenticeships

Each van will annually provide traineeships to young indigenous Australians who will be sponsored to complete training in the Vans and then take the skills learnt back to their traditional areas and provide the same services to their people. This will be an enormous opportunity to provide skills and training to young Australians that will then be able to have a positive impact within the communities they live in.
